As of this moment, I have an iphone, and the ability to within seconds order fast food, play game, gamble, watch sports, get on youtube, play games, take a test to see what kind of pizza I am, post on Tiktok, post to IG, post to twitter, read emails on 5 different accounts,
And I can do all the above and more within seconds. My phone and every app I use is engineered to make my brain addicted to using it.
Addiction requires purposeful Scarcity
What is scarcity?
Scarcity-the state of being scarce or in short supply; shortage.
-What do we all have an infinite supply of?
Distractions, hedonism, vices, and digital rabbit holes.
What must be done then?
You must enforce scarcity. Purposeful scarcity
-Turn off your notifications
-Set limits on your browser
-delete those apps that you know eat into your productivity
-stop swiping right looking for Tinderellas
-Throw away the crappy foodin your fridge and pantry.
-Cease the habit of processed carbs, sugar, and all the other shit you eat that I don't need to tell you is bad for you because you're a grown adult and not a child
-Get rid of stupid shitty overly fat friends. That sentence hurt you because its true. You let yourself go because the people around let themselves go. Look at you now. Feel bad about it
You need to be placing BOUNDARIES on your behaviors.
You need to avoid using willpower. A drug addicts biggest breakthrough is taking themselves out of a drug environment.
Willpower can be worn down, people can and will crack.
Get rid of your negative influences entirely. Denial is easy when the desire is not prompted in the first place.
Everyone is different in what they can handle and not handle. Some people can say no to bad food and not be bothered by it. Some people can have one drink and be satisfied.
Other people binge out, drink the flood, go on a bender.
Be honest with yourself.
If something is not good for you, it has no place in your life. Be poor of what makes you poor.
Fantastic. The influence of others is usually completely overlooked. You are your (irl) social network.
Real. Love it.
